I see in shades of grey
And never black or white
My only true companion, then
Had been the dead of night

Until you came along, that is
Your illumination bright
And bathed my darkened view
In vivid colors of light

Fog surrounded my world
Numbness had been my way
But then I discovered your heart
And was awakened by its ray

Forgive my terseness, dear
The best of love unspoken
But know I’ll never leave your side
Lest my heart be broken
