The Color Pink
all pretty girls, all real men, all new born babies swaddled in it,
it is a definition of an era that wants a cure, hope, perseverance
a symbol, a color, but no, its not just a color.
it is the shade of blush on a first date, it is the sun setting behind the trees
it is not the maybe-if-you-turn-it-this-way color, it is clear as day
it is spring at the end of winter, rising up, melting away past memories
it is your worn out blanket, your old baby clothes
it is the Barbie, sparkles, and unicorns childhood that you fought so hard to regain
because you forgot was it was like to be pure, innocent, carefree.
it is the shirt that everyone seems to love, the mom I don’t like it anymore color
it is the night of prom, your favorite tiara, the color you outgrew
but no, its not just a color.
