Brand New World
Yesterday the world was different
One that was humdrum
One that was commonplace
But today, when I awoke, it was new
It was immersed
Enveloped into a world of white
A world that I saw just last year
But this year I see it in new eyes
Eyes that I looked into years ago
These eyes saw more innocent times
Times of sledding and snowball fights
Times of rosy cheeks and cold noses
This year, I want to savor my brand new world
One more time before the no-nonsense adulthood years
Before I have too many responsibilities
Too many priorities
To think of ‘such trivial things’
So, this winter, away the sensible thoughts go
Gone is my maturity, the knowledge of my age
Now, I will see my world with brand new eyes.
