Her and Them

We snicker and tease
Slap and bite
(I wonder if they know
They’re ruining my life)

She never speaks up
Like she’s having fun
(I’m ready to scream
But the words don’t come)

She runs away
Like a dirty little mouse
(There’s a razor blade waiting
For when I get to my house)

Sticks and stones can break her bones
But word will do no harm
(I write every snide remark
In the scars on my arm)

She hides in a hoodie
Unattractive at best
(Something bad’s gonna happen
If they don’t give it a rest…)
