Whisk Me Away
As the days grew longer
my longing for you grew stronger
the weeping willows
and trees
sway in the wind
making me weak in the knees
when I remember you lay
within the breeze
please! oh please!
my sweet Caroline
the taste of your Macintosh lips
crisp like the morning sun
bright like a new day begun
the smile in your eyes
like a starry night
not in the least bit slight
with care or worry
I had promised to those eyes
I would hurry
and marry you soon
but not before ‘morrow
you were gone
and I did rot with sorrow
so I sought after love
with some redemption
and naught, did I mention
a woman once I had
who tasted of summertime
but it was you, my Caroline
I still love, evermore
and now I shall wait for you in the wind
where you will be, I am sure
