Wrapped Around My Finger

February 7, 2012
You were with me since birth,
Always clinging to me.
To you I looked for comfort,
A safety net of sorts.

Though you were wild and uncontrollable,
Taming you was a challenge I gladly accepted.
Seldom would you question me,
Nearly always doing exactly what I wanted.

For so long I held on to you,
But others needed their beauty restored.
You taught me the pride in natural beauty,
But I chopped you out of my life.

As you fell from me, I knew. . .
I knew you would no longer be wrapped around my finger.
