You went above and beyond
You sent me an angel
When all I asked for was a friend
Through her I'm finding myself again.
I was so cold and lonely
Allowing sadness to wash over me
Not enabling myself to feel the warmth of your touch
Even though I'd always known you were enough
So to help me see more clearly
You crossed my paths with an angel you named Katie
She helped me through my depression
For she too had felt rejection
In her I could confide
All the insecurities I tried to hide
She listened with the utmost care
She didn't roll her eyes, groan or snare
But instead spoke with a voice so gentle and kind
And the words she uttered to me seemed as if they were mine
And I knew right then
That all she said to me was genuine
She knows exactly how I feel
And it just seems so surreal
But the best of all is her love for you
I was in desperate need of a friend who shares the same views
