It stands high,
Blocking the warm sun.
It stands high,
Impenetrable against all will.
It stands high,
Watching with a vulture glare.
A shadow’s cast,
Stretching for miles,
Shredding last hopes.
It stands high,
Never wearing,
Never weakening,
Never falling…
Angry winds howl, pounding.
Pounding relentless stone.
A seed is blown.
It takes root; a new idea is growing.
In a single moment,
It explodes upward.
The wall crumbles.
The shadow disappears.
What’s left?
A forest of hope.
