Until another day
I'll see you with the sun

Goodnight dear friend
I bid a fond farewell
To the sunlight and to you

Goodnight dear friend
The sun has left us
The moon is creeping slowly

Goodnight dear friend
The world is dark
But do not have a fear

Goodnight dear friend
The spirits enter
The world is theirs' to have

Goodnight dear friend
Now off to bed
Until the sun is rising

I imagine this like a war, not one in particular. Just a war. Bidding farewell to life as you know it and bracing for the darkness.

When I first read this, I was picturing two kids playing, but after I read your description, the poem took on a whole new meaning. I loved it!
