Piggy Bank
When I first got you
You were appealing on the outside, but empty on the inside
I never bothered with you
In the beginning…
You were just something I wanted to have
Maybe for show
I wanted to leave you on display
But when I finally became generous
I gave you what I had
Bit by bit
It wasn’t much,
But it was something
It took time for me to stop being selfish
And share with you
And when I finally built you up enough
It became known that you were mine
People would try to take you away
But I worked too hard to let something I’ve invested in..
Be taken away from me
I guard you with every piece of me
I take pride in you
I’d give you my last dime
When I first got you
You were appealing on the outside, but empty on the inside
So, I never bothered with you
But when I finally became generous
I gave you what I had
