If Life Were A Play
If life were a play,
the curtains would never shut.
So artistic,
such optimism.
No script to follow.
We dance on dimes,
we flip coins for luck.
I've been on this killing floor for years.
I've seen the light reflect.
Blinding the artists.
Visions restricted.
We all have roles to play in this insidious plot.
Those damn costumes.
Cigarette smoke.
Suffocating.
We have no roles to play anymore.
If life were a play,
the curtains would close eventually.
