Barren
Barren;
I knew this land, its trees so tall
Higher, higher than them all.
I called it home, this place I knew,
Home, you surely call it too.
Barren;
I knew this land, a land so free
And grassy fields grew where they pleased.
I gave to it; It gave to me,
It gave to me a land so free:
But we needed trees.
Barren;
I knew this land, I knew it well;
But what I see now, I cannot tell.
