Why linger on the past
On all the things that happened last
Really the present's a bit closer now
Look to the past, utter one last bow
Now I never said to forget
Abandon your past like a neglected pet
Doing that would do no good
Abandon it in a forgotten wood
Don't forget your past, don't try
You still care, to say otherwise is a lie
Just don't let your past shape your life
Don't treat it like an impending knife
Your past is always part of you
But don't always let that brew
Your future can be bright and new
Just bid your past a thoughtful adieu
