The "Bathing" Suit
They say the iron suit will do the trick
so there I go,
forced to follow their commands by my acts of piracy,
inching out on the edge,
and of course it weighs a ton
and I, forced to take another step
by my act of being upon the point of no return,
fall head first into the abyss wearing my “bathing” suit,
watching the surface with stinging eyes,
“Goodbye my mates, goodbye dear ship,”
as the last of the bubbles escapes my lips with a pop.
Based on the poem The Farewell by Edward Field
