friend,
dear friend.
i only ask this of you:
that you spare me the daggers
that you hastily aim at my heart
when i stumble
and that once, just once
you aren’t the jagged
hard stubborn stiff
apathetic distant cold
concrete
that scrapes my knee
when i try to fly.

This poem is about a painful friendship I had years ago that I never truly got over.
