I Do Not Understand

I do not understand
Why people think they are better than others
Why they think they can trample all over the rest of us
Why the world accepts this behavior as all right.
But most of all
I do not understand
Why I can’t be part of the “in crowd”
As one of the cool kids
(I’ve had people reject me for who I am,
because of what they think I am, a freak).
What I understand most is hurt and anger.
People who think the world doesn’t care.
People who go shoot up a school.
People who want to commit suicide.
