I want the morning blue jays to quiet themselves
and I in turn shall fall silent,
the way a new kid acts in class

Just this morning while lying in bed,
I heard the chirps of warblers outside
in the trees amongst the morning dew,
accompanied by an orchestra of robins.

They sang me awake,
then one single ‘trill’,
and, I know, my feathered friend was speaking of a new day.
And his words encompassed everything that I needed:
Simplicity
Flight
