The Hard Truth
My tears feel warm against my icy face.
The wind shoves me with a harsh embrace,
Because right now it’s just me against the world.
How hard can life be for one lonely girl?
Right now it’s a sad song that I sing.
Amazing- how hard it is to forget everything.
My friends, they hurt me, though they didn’t try.
When the truth hurts so much would I rather hear a lie?
I laugh, I smile, I stay awake,
but can’t they tell it’s really all fake?
For someone to see the true me, I wait.
Destiny is running too many months too late.
I try to take matters into my own hands.
My soul, it shatters. I have no true fans.
I wish someone would just hold me tight,
and give me hope that everything will be alright.
My friends, they tease like it’s a joke.
For the coolest person, I have not one vote.
I’ve always despised popularity.
Just someone tell me I’m special, please.
But if you say it now it’s just a lie,
and if you think it true, it’s too late tonight.
I’m trying not to give up on the world.
This is how life is for one lonely girl.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
My friend, if you only listen you can give me faith.
Just listen, these secrets inside are eating me.
I need to tell them all so I can be free.
So just do me a favor, find the signs.
Read faces like books, speak what ‘s on your mind.
Listening can break the chains, shatter the swords, and make the lions tame.
Don’t hesitate to help, you will only have yourself to blame.
