That old Cherokee
There once was a people who were noble and free.
Then an event happened that no one could foresee.
Men of white skin came upon the shore.
After their first visit there came more.
They brought their diseases and their guns.
These men made a nation from the many battles won.
Then as they expanded,
Indian land they demanded.
Many left the land in peace.
But the old Cherokee wanted their land in the East.
They fought for a couple years.
But they regretfully left leaving a trail of tears.
Never again will their people be free.
Because of pale skinned from across the sea.
