Going on Strong
She didn’t know what to think
She was scared to death
When the doctor first told her the news
On the way home, her thoughts were running continuously
She watched as tears filled her eyes
She looked through the front window of their Honda CU-V
And took the final glimpse of the last raindrops cascading down
Her journey continues, even now, to this day
And her surgery waits, and she will continue
Through sleepless nights of her life
But she will make it through
There won’t be anything in the way,
To keep her off of this earth
She will live the rest of her life
In ways no one could live up to
Her joyous journey returning
And the smiles uplifting on her face
Watching her son grow up
From him taking his first steps to having his first hockey game
She will continue to fight day by day
Not knowing when she will pass on
But I can promise you this
She will never give up
