Where I Belong

January 19, 2012

I step onto the field as a cool breeze tingles through my body,
I can feel excitement trickling down my spine,
I am a balloon and the determination to succeed is my helium,
This is where I belong.

I tuck in my jersey and pull up my socks,
The smell of the fresh-cut grass conquers my nostrils,
I have waited all day for this moment,
This is where I belong.

The whistle is blown and an adrenaline rush takes over my body,
The crowd’s roar echoes through the stadium like a concert of screaming,
This is my game, but this is much more than a game,
This is where I belong.
