Recent memories,
photographs drowned within briny,
neglected tears.
It’s all the same.

Away from the echoes of deceit,
taunt snickers,
and shoving hands.
Receding into blankets and sheets,
gradually digesting sleep.

Assaulting remarks threaten to leap.
Emotions begin to collide,
moving steadily,
exceptionally steadily,
down the path of jeopardy.

I search everywhere,
though appear blind.
Desire,
have I found you?
What about you,
fragile hope?
Perhaps,
tender harmony?

Thoughts of bliss,
wondrous dreams of freedom-
all appealing in my eyes.
However,
I only yearn for a friend.

While working on this piece, I was originally shooting for a happy, outgoing scenery, though things abruptly transformed. This poem is about having a friend in the world, searching for the most loyal person to be a true companion. After all, everyone needs one.
