Emerald City
I hoped that you’d stay, but I know that you won’t.
What does Seattle have that I don’t?
Grunge bands and Twilight fans,
a fair skinned community with spray on tans.
A church you’ve always dreamed about,
book stores that you can’t live without.
Cozy little coffee shops,
small businesses on the chopping block.
Starbucks and Nirvana both started there.
It’s the Seahawks hometown – not that you care.
You're about to sever your East coast ties,
choosing dreamy sunsets over the classic sunrise.
Things must be better in the Emerald City,
with the Needle so high and the girls so pretty.
I guess since Seattle has all of that stuff,
me being here just isn’t enough.
