You and Me

I see bright lights.
They burn the emptiness before me,
Like a raging fire.

I hear silence.
So loud.
So overpowering.

I slowly move across the floor.
I am pulled
To the dark depths within.

My feet
Are like dead weight;
It is so much easier
For my monsters to get me.

I'm sure they smell my fear;
At least,
It overpowers me.

Suddenly I
Am filled
With strength,
So much,
It shocks me.

I look out to the silence,
You are the only
One in my sight.

You encourage
With the voice,
That soothes me.

You watch me,
Day in,
Day out.
You make sure I am okay.

The beat starts,
My foot stomps,
The monsters scream at me,
But You are all that matters to me.

I'm not scared anymore.
I can do this.
I am ready.

The monsters aren't here.
The torturers aren't here.
Although, I'm not alone.

Now it is only, You and me.

This piece is about when I was walking onto stage to sing and I saw a bright light and I could feel God there with me.
