As I walk by
I see a lotus whose
long stem looks like a long blade fending off anybody who gets close.
The long stem springs towards me like a frog's tongue
and tugs me in closer.

The pedals are silky smooth like saris,
scrunch up like saris wrapped tightly around the body,
and glitter in the sunlight like 24 karat gold bangles.
There are everlasting number of pedals like henna everlasting on the hand.

I sat and stared at this flower
as seconds turned into minutes
and minutes into hours.
