Behind the Mask
Hiding from the world she takes off her mask
Thankful to be alone at last.
When out in the world she pretends to be glad,
Although deep inside she is very sad.
She puts on a mask so her fear won’t show,
Wishing time would hurry so she could go.
She looks at everyone and just smiles,
She’s been hiding behind the mask for quite a while.
Afraid to tell her true feelings because she is scared,
To do something different that no one else has dared.
She wonders why people are so hateful and mean,
Nobody has seen the things she has seen.
Going back home now, she takes off her mask,
Thankful to be alone at last.
