Blessed
Am I truly blessed?
A bed where I may rest
Friends I can impress
With my never ending wardrobe, yes
Food I may eat
A mother who is sweet
A father who cares
They are both my bears, yes
Protected and kept
In a warm little nest
Am I truly blessed? Yes
But that’s not the question
Do I deserve these gifts?
Among others who shop at thrifts
And who have never been kissed
Never been missed
Who am I to receive such love?
When push comes to shove
I have a huge hug
And hot chocolate in the mug
Others just fade into the night
Not knowing what’s right
So what’s the question here?
I have all I ever wanted
Never been taunted
Always been told what’s right
And to not look into the night
The question may very well be
Why am I not rejoicing thankfully?
