Love as a Perfume
Your sweet, sweet scent
Mysterious yet unforgettable-
A pinch of vanilla for your
warm hugs and soft kisses.
A bright splash of lemon
for your smile when we
lock eyes.
But—
A crashing wave of harsh vinegar
douses the sweetness,
with your forgetful ways,
and when you leave me alone
to wonder where you’ve gone.
A bitter methane when you lie
straight into my eyes.
But---
with a sweet kiss and
bellowing apology
you become drenched in succulent ginger
It once again hypnotizes me,
I am so engrossed and addicted,
I forget the methane.
Your smell is forever threaded in my clothes
No matter how foul or sweet
