Learning to Ride
Too frustrated to get back up
after continuously falling
off that dang thing
with those dang wheels
spinning on the ground
as I lay there.
Finally I get back up.
Dad grabs the handles and seat
and starts pushing.
I pedal and yell “Don’t Let Go!”
But sooner or later he does,
and before I know it,
I’m doing it.
I’m riding that dang thing
with those dang wheels.
And I feel the wind on my face
and I realize
it was worth it.
