Childhood Dreams
One step, two step,
We take them side by side.
One word and then another,
We speak at the same time.
Seventeen years of pain and laughter.
A red bag next to one that’s blue,
Buying them at the same place.
A cry, a smile,
We walk in behind each other.
I still get no happy ever after.
Bikes, pushing each other,
We pedal next to the street.
You, a broken leg and me, a broken arm,
We sit next to each other miserably.
Seventeen years of tears and smiles.
One dance, two new outfits,
We go to our friends, yet next to each other.
Two first kisses,
We blush as we tell the other.
I walked them with you, mile for mile.
Your smile, my heart,
Shine together.
Your eyes, my mind,
Burn at the same time.
Seventeen years of sadness and joy.
One wish,
That you and me be together as one.
One hope,
To be more than a best friend.
But another that you enjoy,
is already in your arms.
