Pink Cheeks
You lean closer
 In your ear I whisper
 "He's here"
 Tears spill down pink cheeks
 Eyes rim with red
 Memories crash down around us
 But I take your hand
 And hold it tight
 I listen to your breath
It sounds just as strained as mine
 The door opens
 And our captor
 Shows his malevolent face
 Lips turned up into
 A terrifying smile
 Our breath stops
 My unoccupied hand
 Shakes with anger
And the weight of the gun
 I lift my arm
His grin turns into a smirk
 His filthy hands reach out
 To stop what he thinks
I don't have the power to do
 I pull the trigger
And the last thing I see
 Is blood that's not mine
 Pool underneath me
