The clank and beep
the click of opening doors
the muffled bang when they close
the rushing people
with their insect buzz
all conceal the sound of a question
but cannot kill it

The congested highway's creep
the discontent of waiting
that hovers around the red light
The laughter carried away by the wind
(the time whisked into thin air)
All kill the sound of a scream
but cannot conceal it
