See the sadness in colored faces,
Pushed into the most run down places.
Jobs are quickly taken away,
Deadly threats from the KKK,
Black Codes set with Jim Crow Laws,
The nation sees colored skin as “flaws”.

Crying, dying, segregation;
This is known as discrimination.

Thoughts from the colored, never spoken,
Lynching, violence, families broken,
Riots, Rallies, Civil Rights;
Colored houses burning through the nights.

Tests and taxes, flowing tears,
No one hears the coloreds’ fears.
Moving, excluding, separation,
Still they’re slaves to the white population.

Pain and suffering cloud their eyes,
Another black man slowly dies…
