A homerun
Is like a bomb.
The loud boom
Catches everyone’s attention.
Watching the burning
Ball fly up into the air.
Reaching its highest point.
Then rapidly descending
Hitting the ground beyond the fence
Or landing on your enemy.
The crowd yells and goes wild
As I round third base
Or as we win the war.
I step on home plate
And my teammates hit my helmet
And pat me on the back.
The people at the game
Or watching the TV
Leave with large smiles on their faces.
