Joy and Cheer
The time has come.
It’s here again!
I fly out of bed and bolt down the stairs.
Stockings are full of holiday cheer.
Snow has been falling all night;
The ground is now sparkling white.
How can this be, just yesterday it was 50 degrees;
It was warm, dry, and brown.
That doesn’t matter though; it’s Christmas!
Soon the house will be buzzing;
People will be awake.
Then, the family will come from all around.
The T.V. will show football, instead of talk shows.
The turkey will be cooking in the oven.
I can almost taste it now, juicy and sweet.
Oh, what a treat.
Aromas will fill the whole house,
Smells of turkey, cookies, potatoes, and pie.
Then come the presents, oh what a joy!
All the children will yell and cheer,
About Barbie’s, trucks, clothes, and crafts.
But, the people will leave, and the day will be done.
The house will get quiet, as people go to bed.
Christmas has gone for another year.
But, if you wait it will soon reappear.
