The blood thins and thickens
Slows and quickens
Crimson dampens all
Pooling at a panic provoking pace
Snow turns scarlet
Darkness creeps into heart and mind
Why do healing cells fade
When they must rush to rescue
The ones we love falling away
Leaving only sorrow in their wake
Deafening whispers - pandemonium in the mind
Metallic scent
Tasteless sweets
Cooling skin
Crimson streaks
Suffocating air
End draws near
Time slips away
Pain multiplies
Life's blood evaporates
Seduced by unfulfilled promises
Death ensnares the final spark
The transparent soul follows the flame home

I wrote this after a year in my life that had four deaths of close friends or family.

Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but to be fearless in facing them. Let me not pray for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it.

Wow... So strong, so beautiful... and something almost everyone can relate to. Great job.
