Sunlight beams on everyone else
But I’m hiding in my shadow.
Smiles illuminate the courtyard
But my face shows otherwise.

I shuffle from the ground
Wincing at the bruises.
I take my first step
And fall down again.

Gravity must hate me so
For I cannot stand.
But it’s not the only thing
Bringing me down.

A crowd looms over me
Taunting, laughing
Smiling, scowling
Shades of my enemies.

And then I’m alone
No surprise there.
But the pain in my body
Is too much to bear.

I stand up, defeated
But my feet bring me to a ledge.
I try to walk home, depressed
But I’m standing on an edge.
The sea below the stone
Looks warm and comforting.
A step, a leap of death
A smile, heaven’s great exile.

Everyone’s happy with their life
Except for me.
The iridescent sun will be
The last light I see.
