Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure. -George Edward Woodberry

Sleeping, but still awake,
Dreaming, but seeing nothing,
Searching, but no ones there,
No one except death,
Death is my only friend,
The only thing i've ever known,
For you see,
Death is always with me,
Hiding in my midst,
Taking everyone away from me,
Leaving me alone and unloved,
In this world of cruelty and despair,
With no one to run to,
No one to comfort me,
So i raise this hand,
Close my eyes,
And slash,
Through my heart, my soul, my entire being,
Then nothing, death is upon me,
Finally taking me from this cruel and cold world,
To a better place, where i can be free,
So i welcome this, with open arms,
And i feel death surround me, tightening its grip,
And then my mind goes blank, my breathing stops, and my body goes numb,
And i'm gone, finally dead, with no fears or worries.

The author's comments:
This poem was written a while back when i was going through depression. I read over it from time to time to remind myself of how dark it used to be and where i am today.

I really liked how smoothly this poem flowed. You did a very good job. I'm sorry for everything you've gone through.

If you have a spare moment, I'd be honored if you were able to check out some of my work. I  really appreciate feedback.

This is really powerful, I can feel the pain of the poem. I'm sorry for the people you've lost. I think you should keep writing down your emotions, like you said, it helps. This is a really exceptional poem.
