As I looked into the mirror
The reflection that once had given me dismay
I used to see a world of imperfections, flaws, and misgivings
A world where vanity had become the soul purpose of existence
From the color of your skin, culture, and race
Silly things that circled our lives
I used to worry about silly things like that
A time where I cared how people saw me
I was constantly changing myself
Constantly trying to impress
Always looking into the mirror with distain
Constantly reaching for the borders of the frame
Trying to escape the horror of the dreadful reflection
Thoughts always carrying through my head
Why couldn’t i not look like her?
How can I be as good as them?
I have felt human’s cruel power
Slapped down by the hand that lifted me up
But one day you look into the mirror
Suddenly all your flaws vanish
The insecurities, imperfections, and doubt
But I am beautiful
How long has it taken me to realize this?
That I, you, and everyone
Is beautiful
