We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird,
and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours,
we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. -Dr Seuss

You shaped each piece
Pinned together
Stitched close

Made imperfect in your eyes
Perfect in mine
Every stitch flawless to me

Each one is special
Every inch unique
Fitting together flawlessly

Material picked by hand
Cut with skill
Sewn with love

Slowly the image formed
Shaped it without doubt
All just for me

Every day I am reminded
You created for me
Because you loved me

My name is stitched in the corner
Imperfect
Made flawless by the hand who sewed

Now I thank you
Too late, as it seems
You have already left

You shaped my life
My love
My soul

I thank you
I love you
I miss you

Forever in my memory

I was inspired for this by the quilt that has made a permanent place on my bed. Made by my grandmother almost thirteen years ago, in 1999, I never really appreciated how much work and effort was really put into it. When she passed away in November of 2010, I realized how wonderfully special my grandmother was.
