Amber

I drift in the memories seen
Through the amber in my glass
You’re killing me, so just let me
Fade into your past

I’ll be nothing but a memory
You’ll be nothing but the love
That I never had the chance
To know the full force of

But you resist, and I yield
to that beautiful, fatal smile
You don’t know what I’d do to
Have you, mine, even just for a little while

An hour, a second, a brief moment
To pretend
That one day I could be something
More than just a faithful friend

But you love him, and he loves you
And I know that you feel safe
And I just want you to be happy
With that beautiful smile on your face

But I can’t speak to you anymore
No matter how it hurts
This problem only grows when
I try to solve it with words

I’ll never have your heart
So please, little one, look away while I slowly disappear

I don’t belong here.

Loved it! The last part resonated in my head.

The last part of your poem really struck a chord with me- It's so similar to what I'm going though right now. You wrote it so eloquently!
