For example, what a fireplace thinks
As it’s abandoned
Throughout seasons.
Watching the children run
In and out of the house with
Their summer clothes on
Drinking lemonade, eating ice cream
Never even glancing at him.
Until the cold comes.
Then he is the star attraction,
Everyone huddles close around him,
As he listens to their stories.
Some old.
Some new.
He gets all this attention.
But sure enough
It will be gone soon
When the flowers return.
Then, once again he is
Abandoned.

i really liked this poem. i did it for a class. we had to take an ananimate object and try and understood how it would feel, if it could.
