The termination of childhood
I look around school
and see all those faces,
childlike and innocent,
with protruding girth.
They smile and wave like it is perfectly normal.
To be pregnant at sixteen
would be an awful asylum
I wonder if they know
their childhood is over.
I wonder if they care
that people’s eyes are judging.
What a wretched thing to be
Pregnant at sixteen.
