Where I'm From
I am from hot winters and cool summers.
I am from playing with cousins and not dancing at parties.
I am from messy rooms and toys everywhere.
I am from wearing floaties in a blown up pool.
I am from tans all year long,
and drinking strawberry Nesquik every night before I go to bed.
I am from loud families.
I am from long airplane rides to visit and sad tears when I go.
I am from tiny Christmases or huge Christmases.
I am from large lunches and small dinners.
I am from phone calls and emails.
I am from a mother who does everything and a father who was never home.
I am from exotic fruits and amazing cooking.
I am from Sailor Moon, Pokémon, Grey's Anatomy, and Lost.
I am from failing at ballet, basketball, horseback riding, and ice-skating.
I am from Hispanic foods, customs, parties, and families.
I am from a family with never-ending stories and lessons,
that will be passed on by me and never forgotten.
