The Worlds War (D-day)

December 2, 2011

From that cold metallic click
came that cold ticking tick
when we were unloaded, from the great steel beast
whom the island's massive jaws wish to feast
Came that dreadful time
from which you could hear a child's cry
when we had to keep on trying
trying to live with all
to bring back all who fell
Never again, leaving someone behind
That was the time we stormed that beach
In which we gave our lives to bring an end to the worlds long war.

the thing that inspired me to write this was thinking about all of the people who died on the beach of Normandy.
