Grandpa's Flowers
On the side of the house
Roses,
as happy as he is
smiling together
they sway back and forth
doing their own dance
in rhythm to the wind
the temperature drops, as
the wind picks up speed
and as soon as you know it
out the window
is a winter wonderland
everything white
nothing has color not ever the
garden
as the roses are gone
gone until
the next spring
as the flowers start
to grow
bringing new life
to the empty garden
a rose is like an everlasting spiral
inside
an end to petals
the flowers
a green watering can
adding drops of life to the flowers
a lion
its thorn paws bite you
bleeding but the roses
can be soft like the lions fur
seasons later
the roses are gone
like grandpa
new people live there
sitting on the swing
like he sis
there are no roses
dandelions
in place
as the people on the bench
took grandpa's seat

Ok. This is a well written and heartfelt poem. I love it. I loved the beginning, it really drew me in and when I read the discription of how the garden is in the winter I couldn't help but smile. This was great, but the reason why I didn't say much even though this could easily be one of the better poems on the site, is that is is great in a simple way. It is sweet but you cant, or I can't, really put your finger on what about it makes it so sweet.
