Morality is Discharged

November 10, 2011
By Anonymous

when kings become the beggars
and their kingdom's laid to waste
citizens kill for pennies
enslave their daughters and their sons
when bodies start to pile
and fear inundates our hears
morality is discharged and honor is pushed aside

when we slaughter our own neighbors
and hatred drives our lives
there is no longer glory
detesting what is right
when blood shed is embraced
and held deep within our hearts
then you know that we're all monsters
and that we've gone too far

when we begin to loathe our morals
and look at death with a smile
we empty all our barracks
and bury splendor with your child
when love is exchanged for hatred
and hatred is paid with battle
discords lead to slaughter
and our leaders are disemboweled

when we gouge out our own eyes
and sever our own heads
you know we've reached demise
and that the truth is surely dead
when reconciliation
is something we know longer know
our friends are now our rivals
sons become our foes

when infanticide's a hobby
and suicide's an answer
instruments of torture are all we have left to love
when remorse is no longer
in the recesses of our minds
morality is discharged and honor is pushed aside
