Favorite Quote:
"But she turned around and I love her for that because it made her so human"--Kurt Vonnegut "Slaughter House Five"

She drowns in the bitter-sweet taste
of her one-sided romance
The sweet fragrance beckons
and she follows mindlessly
With words oh so sweet
dripping with honey
He injects it in her veins
with the first sip of love

It kills her inside
the gentle poison
Claiming her heart
the countdown begins
Death smirks and beholds
carefully beginning to take hold

Five

The time skips forward
She finds she can't hold on

Four

He turns his back
she feels a pain like none before

Three

Her words stay stuck
before they breach the air
Like a thick foaming
she cannot speak
Her hand reaches
for someone that is no longer there

Two

So painful, she feels so bad
She closes her eyes to the world

One

It looks so natural
the cause of her pain
But the curtain has dropped
and the poison is gone
There lies the remnants of
a poisonous love affair

The author's comments:
I was inspired by the actual poison cyanide, which is said to have a bitter almond taste when drank (I read that in a school story, I think it was by Ray Bradbury for some reason...)
