Frayed telephone cables
tether two hearts
dripping their longings.

All my broken pieces suspend,
shards of glass inside of gelatin.

Goodbye is snapping a rubber band.

My pieces rush down and shatter again.


The author's comments:
I wrote this poem on my cell phone after I got off the phone with someone who I miss immensely. When I have to stop talking to them, my happiness feels deflated, and all I can do is wait for something else to bring me up again.
