Love can only go so far
They warned me,
They all warned me that long distance never works.
Yet you had me blindly convinced-
I was naïve.
You promised to always protect me,
Yet it’s cruel irony
That you’re the one to break me.
I spent those summer nights
Waiting, praying that you would call.
I religiously picked up the phone
To reminisce for hours,
Planning our future.
But now,
I’m sitting on my bed,
Sobbing into a pillow,
Clutching the phone with both hands.
I’ve already lost the one I love,
Does it really matter if I lose my dignity too?
I keep telling you,
Desperately trying to convince you to stay.
Don’t measure the distance,
Measure my love.
Please,
Say something,
Anything,
Nothing,
And I will take you back.
That is all
I need.
But not what you want.
